Review of Call Me by Your Name (2017) by Tal G — 08 Apr 2018
Here's to someday getting a taste of those magical Italian summer days in the countryside.
This film was disarmingly beautiful and serene. I was honestly taken by this movie by the first 5 or so minutes. It managed to establish its blissful and languid atmosphere very quickly and dominantly, and managed to hold it tight right until the end. This was a film baked to perfection. Its vision realized to a tee.
Every aspect of this movie worked perfectly together; the music, the fantastic natural acting, the beauty of the colours and the visuals, the locations and sets, the pleasant dialogue. All these aspects coming together harmoniously in an extremely pleasant, subdued, patient, and gorgeous experience.
The heart of the movie, the story, also worked really well. It strode confidently through, reached believable heights, remained grounded and sensitive. It was also very pleasing to see that the story ended exactly at the right moment, leaving us with one of the better ending credits in recent memory.
This was an extremely effective love story. Leaves you with interesting feelings. A high quality experience.
