Review of Caligula (1979) by Chris G — 28 Apr 2008
I watched the unedited version, I believe. I don't know. There wasn't a real cover, only the default Hollywood video replacement ones. Anyway the reason I rented it was because I wanted to see the movie that Arch Enemy quoted from on the title track of their album "Rise of The Tyrant".
I have to say this wasn't much more than a sexual romp in a historical setting. I don't want to accuse it of being historically innacurate because I don't know the full story of Gaius Caligula, but it just didn't seem completely so.
Particularily the clothing, which seemed as bombastic as the costuming for "300". I don't know, a mix bag.
