Review of Caligula (1979) by Alejandro S — 25 Jun 2011
Although I can't say that I personally am thoroughly knowledgeable about Roman history, from what I am told by people who are and have watched this movie it is very accurate to the historical events back in ancient Rome. Caligula is a mentally depraved psychopath with all the power in the world -- a fatal recipe for disaster.
The musical score in this film is fantastic. The acting is over-the-top & excessive.
I read someone else's review that puts it well: "As a straight feature, all the porn gets in the way, and as a porn flick, all the story and dialog get in the way.".
