Review of Calibre (2018) by Jluis_001 — 16 Sep 2018
I was tricked by the trailer of this film and the good reviews it received. Honestly I questioned myself how it is that it received such good opinions because this original Netlfix film seemed an absolute disappointment since in most of it's running time nothing happens.
I'm being honest nothing ever happens with the exception of the murders that drive this narrative. The story itself, if someone talks to you about it, you will find it interesting. But the way narrative handles things and consequent events is just terrible because the suspense and tension are some of the worst I've seen in a film. I say this because as the minutes pass you don't feel that something is happening, you don't feel that the characters are being caught because in one way or another the villagers in the town where they committed the crime always seem to know more than the main characters but they never seem to be sure of what they know and thereby to act accordingly.
This is how the whole film is handled until we reach the final point where the dramatic knot unfolds. Only the final 15 minutes of the film are the best of it. From then on, I was really, really disappointed.
