A charming amusing entertaining film, with pathos and comedy. High-calibre cast deliver professional performances, but stilted. The excursion into Hollywood fantasy recovers the viwer, and the parallel plot of growing up/coming of age is a poor rendition of Gregory's Girl.
Good fun, dated even when new.
