Review of Cake (2014) by Catherine H — 24 Jan 2015
I don't know what you are all talking about. Cake was a very beautiful film. Very simple yet very honest and complex at the same time. This was the best female performance of the year, over my favorite Julianne Moore in Still Alice (close to a tie) The film captures the emptiness, the sadness of losing of a child, and adding to that, suffering from chronic pain.
.making it more painful for a single person to bare. She struggles, her loyal maid tries to help her, because she understands Claire has been through a lot. Meeting Roy and Casey helps her see beyond her pain and in the end there's a small light in the end of the road.
It's a great film, I completely recommend it.
