Review of Cairo Time (2009) by Lizzy I — 20 Jan 2010
Cairo Time is not a fast moving film; it is more reflective and at times could be mistaken for a brochure advertising a trip to Cairo. It is however a very personal film and can truly be appreciated by those who have been to the city and those who have experienced the kind of romantic story that it describes.
If you have, the film has surprising nostalgic power; it can find things inside you that you might have forgotten or enhance feelings and memories that are still burning and very much alive; for some those feeling were buried since high school, for others the feelings are still raw.
It just so happens that for me the combination of elements worked very well. I relived some personal moments through the film and the lovely acting (and actress) only enhanced that feeling of familiarity.
I would reccomend this film very highly to some of you, and you know who you are; I would not reccomend it to everyone though. The soundtrack is also charming featuring music by the same composer of the music for the films "Goodbye Lenin" and "Amelie".
