A mildly amusing though largely inconsequential release that provides little in the way of story, character development or insight. The period piece production values and cinematography are indeed top-notch, but the performances are generally underwhelming and the writing surprisingly pedestrian.
It's rather strange to think of "Woody Allen" and "fluff" in the same thought, but, regrettably, they go together all too well in this uninspired, generally humorless offering.
