Review of Café Society (2016) by John M — 16 Nov 2016
Woody Allen messing around in this time period will always make a fascinating watch. At least in the cinematography/set decoration department. There is nothing unique here that he hasn't done already writing and character-wise.
Jesse Eisenberg is basically Woody when he was that age and all the love affairs feel like half-ass versions of his better films. It's not a bad movie, but it's also nothing memorable. A strong ending with a pretty lackluster story.
