Review of Cadillac Records (2008) by Tristan H — 28 Feb 2009
Nice sets, good performances and great music. The main problem is that there are so many stories within this film, each one crying out for a full feature film of their own, but in the end having to settle for a brief moment of screen time.
I particularly would have loved to have seen Beyonce playing Etta James in a full film of her life story so complex is her character. Instead, denied the screen time each character deserves, the result is a film that never really lets the audience get under the skin of the artists.
Shame.
