Review of Cadillac Records (2008) by Tim H — 21 Aug 2009
Very good movie. Great direction, some great acting. Adrien Brody you come to expect nothing less from, but Jeffrey Wright definately pulled out something different here. The only actors that I felt didnt pull their weight for the time period and their characters were Gabrielle Union and Emmanuelle Chrigui (and I love Entourage). Gabrielle had amazing moments, and then other moments when I felt like she was about to"Bring it On." Beyonce does do a great job portraying Etta James. She captured Ettas stage presence and motions pretty well, a little over the top at times, but still did a great job.
The screenplay was very well written and directed. A wonderful collaberation of talent and how they all were apart of this record company. The way music blurred the colors of racism was showed beautifully through this movie.
