Review of Cadillac Records (2008) by Kate E — 21 Jan 2010
Very slow moving film -- it felt much longer to me than the 1:48 runtime. However, it is interesting, especially for someone interested in music and who enjoys blues (both of which describe me). All of the performances were decent, but surprisingly (at least to me), Beyonce as Etta James was the best thing about this film, and she unfortunately didn't show up until the last 45 minutes.
I found the ending a bit anticlimactic, and I don't really feel that Adrian Brody's character "earned" the emotion he expressed in his final scene. Not amazing, but decent, and worth a watch for music fans.
