Review of Cadillac Records (2008) by Raphael G — 12 Feb 2011
The past decade has had some great bio films about musicians. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. The songs in this movie are good, and there is some good acting here, but the screenplay is just a mess.
It just doesn't feel like there's much coherence at all - it's just a jumbled mix of scenes. For example, what did we learn about Little Walter in this movie? He had an appetite for getting into trouble.
And then he dies. Writing like this makes it very hard to connect with the story and the characters. It's just a shame.
