Review of Cadillac Man (1990) by Monsieur R — 18 Dec 2010
Robin Williams as Joey sells this funny film but he can't sell cars. As a car salesman, he has to sell 12 cars in a day, but he has lost his touch. He is told his job is on the line. He may lose his job, and he may also lose his life.
Robin Williams narrates this intelligent and comedic look at the pressure of holding on to a job and his mind. Williams is divorced yet needs to see his daughter. Sell the cars or he has no job and no money and that spells disastor for him, or so he believes.
Williams should have won something for this role of a desperate man in an ordinary job under pressure. I do not agree with the other reviews about Cadillac Man. About half way through this becomes an intense thriller when a jealous husband suspects everyone of having an affair with his wife.
About half way through Robin Williams is thrust into being a hostage negotiator. He is excellent.
I found it hoot, and a honk-honk. Wanna buy a car?
