Review of Caddyshack (1980) by Nick O — 26 Jun 2010
Putting off this one forever, Harold Ramis's cult epic gathers '80s icons for a time in an era when going to the movies was hip. Caddyshack swings from witty reference to pathological swing, each joke feeling oddly refreshed.
Masterpiece? Maybe it's a nostalgia thing for some. Still, its brash euphoria is a slippery peak that could only be done in and of its day. Ultimate slapstick in one scorcher of a comedy.
