Review of Caddyshack (1980) by Ola G — 31 Jul 2011
Danny Noonan (Michael O´Keefe) is a caddy at the Caddyshack, the caddyshop at the exclusive country club The Bushwood Club. Danny is trying to get into college to study law, but he just hasn´t got the finances to it. Then he finds out that Judge Smails (Ted Knight), the chairman at the club, gives out a caddy scholarship every year. Thus he needs to convince Judge Smails that he is the right man for it and that means a lot of asskissing.. Danny´s mentor is the rich and slightly confused playboy and golfer extraordinaire Ty Webb (Chevy Chase) who tries to make Danny understand the important things in life. Danny struggles as well with two different love affairs and girls, the hotheaded Maggie O'Hooligan (Sarah Holcomb) and the seductive Lacey Underall (Cindy Morgan). At the same time the slightly deranged war veteran and greenskeeper Carl Spackler (Bill Murray) tries to kill a gopher before it destroys the whole golfcourse...
This is a classic 80´s comedy with maybe not that much of a story, but with several funny scenes mostly performed by Bill Murray and Chevy Chase, two of my all time favourite comedians. I do like the title song "I´m Alright" from Kenny Loggins and Cindy Morgan is a true wow factor in "Caddyshack".
