Review of Caddyshack (1980) by Brett H — 27 Mar 2014
Kinda overrated as "one of the funniest comedies ever", but it does have it's moments and most of them are due to Bill Murray's ridiculously low-intellectual character! There really isn't much of a story except caddies behaving like idiots and a small rivalry between two golfers, which could've left room for tons and tons of jokes, but the laughs are rarely more than a chuckle.
Maybe I'm jaded today, having seen many more oddball and raunchy comedies that this becomes stale in comparison. The real highlight is Rodney Dangerfield's, motor-mouth asshole who just never stops talking, and his golf bag is just classic.
This was Harold Ramis' directorial debut, so in that regard, it could've been worse, but I just don't hold it to the comedy heights of so many people older than I.
