Review of Caddyshack (1980) by Nate Q — 09 Nov 2013
The measure of any great comedy - teen oriented or otherwise - is how it ages. Entire new generations of fans continue to give eternal life to the personas delivered by the four key players in this cast.
The supporting team might be mediocre, but that's because director Harold Ramis wisely released the four main characters to completely hijack the film and make it their collective playgrounds. For those wanting conventionality, think of the timeless "gopher" moments, the "Cinderella Story", the "Baby Ruth Bar" or the countless one-liners from Dangerfield and Chase.
Comedies are supposed to make you laugh endlessly. Mission accomplished, 2 generations later.
