Review of Caché (2005) by Kevin H — 27 Mar 2008
It's meticulously detailed and beautifully captured. The moral and political undertones are substantial, but Haneke wisely keeps them as undertones and lets the pure style of the film speak for itself.
I have to note the two great motifs that create a powerful tension: compulsive displaying (with bookshelves, display cases, TVs) and deceptiveness of the filmed image (like the opening shot). Just wonderful.
