Haneke, whose previous credits include the disturbing 'Funny Games', serves up another unsettling and innovative piece of work. Hardly a thriller, or a drama for that matter; more of a slow, taut examination of one's and, indeed, a country's past behaviour and its prevailing human consequences.
Georges world becomes a psychological, microcosmic battleground between conscience, denial and responsibility.
