Review of Caché (2005) by Jonathan A — 28 Aug 2008
A seemingly-perfect French family is terrorized by a stalker's voyeuristic videotapes of them and some lurid drawings. Very well made and acted overall, but the suspense, although tangible is minimal at best; with one incredibly shocking scene unlike what was advertised.
While some may praise the film for it's conciseness, I found the film to be somewhat uneven as it progressed, going from percolating suspense to preachy melodrama. And although I can understand the purpose of the ending, it unfortunately left me with a sense of anti-climactic puzzlement.
Nevertheless, judging by the acclaim, I'm sure my opinion is moot for the curious.
