Review of Caché (2005) by Julia D — 24 Jan 2010
This is a very unique psychological thriller by Michael Haneke (Funny games) with Juliette Binoche and Daniel Auteuil.
A married couple and their twelve year old son recieve tapes of surveillance of their private lives and childlike drawings of bloody people and animals. They get more and more personal, and the husband starts to see a vague referance to his past.
The movie feels very realistic, with it's long takes consisting in the characters doing everyday chores, and not every scene gets essential for the plot.
I don't know if I recommend this for you who generally love action movies and thrillers. This is very NON-american. Not the average prefabricated thriller. No traces of any clichés. You can almost call it anti-thriller, cause it confuses you from the beginning till the end and won't leave you much answers.
Very professionally made.
Like I've said, a very special movie, which I don't recommend you who are interested in thrillers but are interested in cinema.
