Review of Caché (2005) by Tony E — 25 Jan 2010
This movie started out well as stylistically sound & with Binoche as a good actress. Some long takes, perhaps longer than they needed to be, but affective. I appreciated the idea behind the film, the mystery and unsettling moments.
Sometimes though, I felt the script could have been better, that some of it was unfitting. Things seemed unreasonable, making me feel this is yet another modern-style film appeasing to startle us with an imposing nothingness that seems to shred things apart without reason, but still well made.
I think I have solved the mystery but it is still unsettling and left without resolve.
