A masterclass in understatement, and one of the best thrillers since the turn of the century. It doesn't push a story onto you, rather, it lets you approach it gradually and particularly during the first half, (but as a constant throughout the whole film), it treads the line between reality and "the cinematic" wonderfully.

Its a real treat to see a director breathe fresh life into a genre that over the past decade has gone a little stale, and Haneke's use of the camera and the tapes the characters are given is expert, and keeps you on your toes, ultimately culminating in an end credit sequence thats you have to study just as closely as the rest of the picture.

In summary, whilst it may not be top of everyones to-watch list, for those who do sit down for an evening with it, you are guaranteed a film of real depth, substance and power.
