Review of Caché (2005) by John C — 23 May 2011
This film, unfortunately, does not warrant the same praise from me as it did from countless other critics. I was certainly excited to see this film, as I had read these fantastic reviews and it was recommended to me by a friend. Throughout the movie, I kept waiting for something, anything! exciting to happen (you see, all the reviews said it was very suspenseful). For the most part, it was long boring shots of the street. I won't spoil the film, but I will say that there is one scene that I was NOT expecting, and it was a pleasant (or rather, unpleasant) surprise.
On the other hand, the acting was great. I love Daniel Auteuil, and Juliette Binoche was a fantastic compliment to his character.
I really wish I could rate this film higher; I believe it had the potential to be a great movie, but the lack of suspense (the lack of ANY action) and the confusing nature of the plot leaves me disappointed with this so called, "thriller".
