Review of Caché (2005) by Brett B — 01 Aug 2010
This movie started well and kept me intrigued. After watching for one hour and 50 minutes I realized that there was only 2 minutes of the movie remaining and there was absolutely no headway at all into the mystery.
Just as I was pondering how in the name of Odin they were going to explain the crazy shenanigans, the end credits made their untimely appearance. Fin. The end. Movie over. Apparently I found out afterwards that this was an intentional choice by the director to leave everything open with no explanation whatsoever.
Some would say this is a clever way of challenging our perceptions and forcing us to think more deeply about the story. Personally I say BULLSHIT. It is the height of unimaginative laziness. I would recommend you give this movie a miss, which is a pity considering it had a lot of potential.
