It gets one or two things better then the original, but it's a unnecessary remake. BUT, if you take the movie by itself, it's a glorious gory movie. Some scenes are really disturbing and hard to watch due to the perfect practical effects.
I also find the romance between Paul and Karen a little bit tragic. It's standing at 0% on the tomatometer, non sense.
