Review of Cabin Fever (2003) by Jose M — 07 Nov 2011
Cabin Fever came to us in 2002 with writer and director Eli Roth. I do not think anyone had any idea bloody and disgusting the film would not only turn out be, but also how fun and brainless it is. There are three versions of the film.
One of them is the chick flick version with scary scene covered by hand. There is also a family version, so the whole family can watch. Yes, the family version can be watched by all ages and there is the one I saw.
This review will mostly refer to the theatrical unrated whatever. The film opens up with a prelude as a man finds out his dog is sick. Skip that, we are now in an adventure with five friends to a remote region in the woods.
Donâ(TM)t Go in the Woods⦠Alone! One of them, a huge lunkhead, discovers a rifle and has a blast. He ends up shooting a person and that is when the trouble begins, if the store scene was not disturbing.
Anyways, they start to uncover a deadly flesh eating virus that is slowly killing them one by one as paranoia increases and their friendships decrease. Letâ(TM)s leave it at there, but what struck me about Cabin Fever was the action and dialogue in the film thanks to Roth.
There are certain things that happen in the film that are very bizarre from a boy who loves pancakes to a sheriff that wants to party. Cabin Fever starts off great and progresses into bizarre territory and ends in irony.
What do I think of it? I loved it of course because it is weird in a way. It also brings bright things for Eli Roth which is turning out to be pretty good. I enjoyed this film a lot.
