Review of Cabin Fever (2003) by Adam F — 05 Nov 2014
Although the story and premise are genuinely disturbing and frightening, as a horror movie "Cabin Fever" is crippled by abysmally bad dialogue and constant moments of unintentional hilarity. I'm seriously unsure if this film is actually supposed to be a comedy or not.
The characters in the film are completely unlikeable and make decisions that are so stupid that it's impossible to really care if they make it out alive. There are also several problems with the story, with several very strange events never being explained (such as a character being killed off-screen with no explanation and a weird kid that loves pancakes being introduced towards the last third of the film).
The special effects and makeup are good and the low budget never shows, but unless you're a big horror fan that can enjoy him/herself by watching a lot of gore and laughing at the bad script there's not much here.
