Review of Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever (2009) by Hunter D — 17 Feb 2010
CABIN FEVER 2 is way better than director Ti West has led us to believe, who has expressed his displeasure with the final product while he was promoting his new movie HOUSE OF THE DEVIL. While it's not as well realized in its concept as Eli Roth's original, West made a sequel that was like a John Waters movie mixed with a bit of Todd Solondz and the body-melt flick STREET TRASH.
CABIN FEVER 2 won't make your skin itch the way the original does, but it will gross you out, probably more so than the original. The movie is actually a complete and total blast of gory fun (a few sour notes here and there) but the only real crime it commits is how it peters out in the end, with a conclusion that's unsatisfying and a tacked-on final scene that clearly was added in later, and probably wasn't shot by Ti West given it feels clumsy and out of step with everything else.
But it is everything else that makes this movie so fun, it'll be a great one to gross out friends with at drunken parties in the future.
