Review of Cabaret (1993) by Darryl J — 08 Aug 2008
I've always wondered why Liza Minelli was famous. I had only seen her in the public eye where she is portrayed as slightly crazy. I'm glad I finally say this. Once you see Cabaret, there is no doubt why she was once such a huge star.
She plays her role to perfection. Everyone in this movie was perfect for their role. Every single music number was perfectly executed and performed. A lot of people keep complaining about how they wanted more story with the Nazi's.
I don't think that's the point of the film. The point of the film,to me at least, is how these characters don't let the Nazi's control and dictate their lives. They just don't stop their lives in fear of what might happen.
They continue to live, love, laugh, sing, and dance. That is the essence of Cabaret.
