Review of Cabaret (1993) by Nick O — 24 Jan 2009
Described as Chicago with Nazis, there are notable similarites. However, Cabaret came first. Many parts are disturbing in a Rocky Horror-esque sense. There is an intricate story and some entertainingly rich historical as well as plot parallels, often in the songs themselves.
Unfortunately, I simply did not enjoy it. Just too garish and gaudy, but it's flashy enough to be entertaining in a pinch.
