Review of Cabaret (1993) by Rebecca H — 07 Feb 2009
I could only stand to watch half of this tale of a teacher who falls in love with a nightclub singer in 30s Berlin. Maybe the second half is magnificent, although I seriously doubt that, but in the painful-to-watch first half the actors are wooden, the characters are flat, there's no attempt at development, the editing is all over the place, there is no plot, the lacklustre songs are pointless and the subtext is both brutally in your face and yet barely touched on.
