Review of Cabaret (1981) by Quinto W — 22 Sep 2009
I hadn't seen this movie since I was 9 and though I remember liking it a lot at that time (along with it having many more songs), and I did unsterand the major themes playing, I think it is significantly more meaningful to me now.
My image of Liza Minnelli was that of someone who marries quite often and falls down a lot, hilariously, in "Arrested Development"; nothing could have prepared me to rediscover her graciousness, her voice and how she seems to flow through the screen effortlessly emboding all that is Sally Bowles (and Lucille Bluth was righ, a piano could stand on those legs).
The film would not work for me it were not for Liza and also the oh-so-freaking-great Joel Gray.
