Bob Fosse was a driven master craftsman who's drive would evetually kill him .

But his contribution to musicals is vital in the history of the genre.

Based on Christopher Isherwoods memoirs of Weimar Berlin ,Fosse recreates the decandance of the period before the nazis came to power.

Minelli steps out of the shadows of her mother as Sally Bowles the good time girl who craves more in her life.

Michael York is fine to as the Brit lured into this lurid world.

But most of all Joel Grey is simply outstanding as the emicee of the Kit Kat club, a role that justifies you watching the film.

Fosse delivers in spades here and if you are not a fan of traditional musicals then this is a change from the norm.
