Review of Byzantium (2013) by Pete G — 27 Sep 2013
Review:
I quite enjoyed this movie. It does drag in some places, but the storyline was well put together and it does keep you on the each of your seat. The main problem with the film was the main character Saoirse Ronan, who was really dull. I find her style of acting boring and unemotional like she was in The Host. Apart from that, the film could have been much shorter, which would made better, but I can understand that the director tried to show the characters past. The whole look and feel of the film could have done with a bit of work but its watchable!
Round-Up:
I'm really not a fan of Saoirse Ronan, who spoilt Hanna and The Host for me and I honestly think that this would have been a better movie if she wasn't in it. Gemma Arterton was brilliant, alongside a lot of the other actors, and the whole vampire thing was done well. I like the fact that the director didn't follow all the other vampire movies and that he concentrated on the love between the mother and daughter, but the film didn't have to have so much things going on at once. Judging by the money that it made, it didn't really go down well with the audiences well, which is a shame because I have seen some bad ones this year.
Budget: $8million.
Worldwide Gross: $85,000 (Terrible!).
I recommend this movie to people who are into there vampire movies based around the love story between a mother and daughter. 4/10.
