Cousin to "Let the Right One In" in tone and mood and a vast improvement on Neil Jordan's previous vampire film, "Interview with the Vampire," "Byzantium" is well-acted, well-shot, and all-around well-made, Most importantly for a movie of this kind, it manages to sustain its Gothic air without devolving into pretension, largely through the talent of its cast.
