Review of By the Bluest of Seas (1936) by Paul D — 23 Sep 2015
As this is a black and white film you have to accept the title for what it says, of course it represents more than just the colour of the water - this is an uplifting tale of discovery. The story itself is not overly interesting, but the style certainly is.
At times this is a silent film, at other points it is a musical, all underpinning the romance which perhaps sadly has a too idealistic conclusion.
