Review of Buzzard (2015) by Dan H — 28 Apr 2015
A fascinating character study. The film doesn't explode into brutality nearly as often as you'd expect, in fact it lags a good deal. Joshua Burdge is fantastic as the scummy Marty, a young adult who hates his job and curses the society he lives in, lashing out at the system in any small way he can (mainly by doing small-time scams for very little money).
Unfortunately, he isn't very good at what he does as he is almost always caught. It's kind of entertaining watching Marty go around and lash out in small ways, and when things don't go as planned observing as he explodes into small (and sometimes not-so-small) fits of rage.
Marty is a fantastic character as he isn't necessarily likable, but still manages to be easy to identify with. There's not much plot or action, so Burdge is easily THE reason to see this film.
His portrayal of Marty is a rich one that's hard to take your eyes off of or ignore.
