Review of Butterfly on a Wheel (2007) by Pauline M — 07 Jun 2008
Thriller starring Pierce Brosnan and Gerard Butler about a perfect family's life and how it is ruined by a kidnapper's brutally efficient plot. After 90-minutes of cat-and-mouse escapades it turns out that the whole thing ends with the most implausible twist one can imagine.
One that makes you feel you wasted the last 90 minutes. The morale of the movie is simple: You get what you deserve. The best thing about 'Butterfly on a wheel' is the fact that it is unpredictable.
But in order to deliver that you will have to bare with some pretty unbelievable twists. Saying that, what is quite sarcastic is that sometimes it's too easy to predict! The twist ending was a great disappointment for its incredible ridiculousness.
That alone spoiled the movie for me. The suspense just turns to irritation on many occasions. There is a series lack of plot development. Go watch 'The Game' instead. Interesting premise; poor development.
