Review of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) by Tim S — 07 Aug 2009
The classic pairing of Newman and Redford, but watching it again, no offense to Redford, is to enjoy Paul Newman's performance even more since he has passed. He is literally one of the most charming actors that the screen has ever shown us.
The writing is also truly great and shows how great William Goldman really is (there is a reason they use this as a Bible in screenwriting classes). But the thing that struck me the most this time was the cinematography of Conrad Hall.
Truly one of the greatest cinematographers of all time. It's just to good to pass up, all the great pairings and a good script, hell, George Roy Hill has a career because of these guys. The ending gets me every time and Katherine Ross is one of the most drop dead gorgeous women who should have done more films just so we could see those eyes.
