Review of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) by Leighton T — 12 Aug 2009
I feel the trio did an even better job with The Sting, but there is no doubt this is a charming little buddy film that happens to be a western. It might grow on you, but it's style over substance and while it's beautifully photographed, and has a perfect score from Burt Bacharach, there is essentially no story here, just Butch and Sundance on the run.
The final freeze frame has become an iconic screen image.
