Review of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) by Francesco J — 18 Oct 2009
Well its takem me nearly 40 years but I have finally seen the definative buddy movie.
The chemistry between Redford and Newman still feels as fresh as the day as the film was released.
This is due in no small terms to William Goldmans crackling script packed full of memorable dialogue "Who are those guys?" and the fact the film has plenty of action including the cliff jump and the final shoot out in Bolivia.
Some of the 60s elements are a bit creaky ,the soundtrack for example has aged badly but apart from that the whole film is a great deal of fun .
You could compare the film to The Wild Bunch of the same year as both have smilar storylines although of course the Wild Bunch is a more serious film.
