Star wattage powers this terrific picture. Obviously, the producers thought people (especially women) wouldn't be able to resist Newman and Redford, but these are not just two pretty faces. They give deft, comedic performances (for which only Redford would be nominated).
However, it would be nothing without the snappy screenplay by William Goldman, the Leone-esque direction of George Roy Hill and the stunning cinematography of Conrad L. Hall. Great film.
