Review of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) by Manish R — 11 Jul 2010
An all around great film with two iconic protagonists. Paul Newman as Butch Cassidy is just about the most charismatic Western character that I've seen put to film. He almost makes you forget that the movie is essentially putting two worthless petty thieves on a pedestal and making you feel bad for them. When you really get down to it, Sheriff Bledsoe says it best: "I never met a soul more affable than you, Butch, or faster than the Kid, but you're still nothing but two-bit outlaws on the dodge.".
That, and the bizarre 1970's-esque pop soundtrack really makes the movie seem dated at times.
