Review of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) by Rachael H — 24 Oct 2010
Ok this film doesn't really get started until about half an hour in...and then there's a random music sequence to "Raindrops keep falling on my head" and it's all a bit random ad "What genre am I watching?" The two main characters are very likeable and the actors play off each other very well and have some amusing conversations such as the "Jump!" scene. So I think it was cast well...
The plot's probably TOO simple and we don't really get to see the guys chasing them AT ALL. Some POV shots would have been nice at giving the story a lot more depth and giving the characters more personality. The film liked a lot of originality and was dull at a lot of points. The photograph shots went on for too long and I think they could have shown the progress of years in a more interesting way. The music was very juxtaposed and that was a good idea in theory but it didn't really work in practice in my opinion because it was too silly "Bahbahbah.......".
Nothing special. They could have done so much more with the characters, plot and direction.
