Review of But I'm a Cheerleader (2000) by Richard R — 03 Sep 2008
This is one of those films where the concept is far greater than the execution. A bit of a letdown, certainly, but still this is a solid and quirky comedy. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the one-liners and moments here and there, even though I could see the jokes coming from a mile away.
I also liked the look and soundtrack of the film; it works well with the whole satiric angle of the movie. And I found the love story between Lyonne's and DuVall's characters sweet and real. This is not a classic dark comedy, but it is a good one, and certainly recommendable.
