Review of Bus Stop (1956) by Sam S — 16 Aug 2007
My very favourite Monroe film. She does an amazing job here and it's all the more affecting to know that she was being given a very hard time by the director. She was berated soundly for going back to fetch her shoe when she's running across the arena but as she so rightly said - that's what Cherie would do - and it's the take they used for cryin' out loud! When I was little, in the seventies, London's Madame Tussaud's had a waxwork of Monroe in her Bus Stop costume, she had one hand holding her valise and the other at the side of her face, touching her hat.
I was haunted by that image even before I saw the film.
