Review of Bus Stop (1956) by Kacey C — 23 Aug 2008
In the days of Amber alerts, missing blonde girls and plentiful abductions, this abduction story seems a wee bit dated and out of place. I felt really uncomfortable by the main character's entitlement to have whatever he wants whether the girl wants it or not, and how close to the lines of rape that seems today.
The movie is interesting enough, but I don't know that it is worth the discomfort and unease that it brings 50 years later in a totally new (and violent) world.
