Review of Bus 174 (2002) by Jay F — 13 Jun 2006
A great documentary about a former street kid from Rio de Janeiro who holds hostages on a bus. Some people say he did it because he was tired of being an invisible street kid. The film goes through the bus ordeal but also takes a look at his past and the political side to negotiations.
The police didn't handle the hijacking well at all and weren't properly organized to handle the situation. Bus 174 gives the viewer an insightful look into Brazil's poverty stricken streets.
